The Flathead County Sheriff is designated by state statute as the chief law enforcement officer in the county. The sheriff delegates this authority to his staff of approximately 50 sworn deputies who are assigned to various divisions and teams. A deputy is specifically assigned to coordinate search and rescue personnel and operations. This coordinator oversees two search and rescue organizations and four specialty teams, which total a volunteer force of approximately 150 professional rescuers.
The mission of the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office is to consistently contribute to the community’s reputation as a safe place to live, work, play, learn and visit. Two Bear Air supports this mission as a strategic partner by providing needed staff, equipment and resources.
This is a non-exclusive partnership with the ability to have other service agreements with agencies across the region and other mutual aid agreements.
